GroomTeam USA was pleased to announce the winners of the 2007 Lonnie Lange Memorial Scholarships at Intergroom in April of this year.
GroomTeam offers three $1,000 scholarships toward general college education and one scholarship to attend a GroomTeam approved grooming school. To be considered for a general college scholarship the applicant must be the child, grand child or step-child of a professional groomer. The grooming scholarship is open to anyone who is interested in a career in the grooming profession. Not only is the winner graced with a fine grooming education but GroomTeam also supplies up to $1,000 for the purchase of equipment. This year GroomTeam received over 100 applications for scholarship grants.
This year the scholarship winners are:
Kelly Thornton of North Richland Hills, Texas. Kelly is entering her junior year at the University of Texas and is a nursing major. Kelly has applied, and won, scholarships in each of her three years at Texas.
Taylor Nichan of Bolingbrook, Illinois. Taylor is entering her junior year at the University of Vermont and is currently studying abroad. She is spending her summer in Denmark and Poland. In the fall Taylor will be in Russia and in Egypt for the winter session followed by either Switzerland or France in the spring before she returns to Vermont next summer.
Allison Dale is from Elk Grove Village, Illinois and is entering her sophomore year at the University of Illinois at the Urbana-Champaign campus.
Lauren Matuszak is the winner of the grooming scholarship for 2007. Lauren is from Bolingbrook, Illinois and will be learning her chosen trade at Windy City School of Pet Grooming which is owned and operated by Judy Kurpiel who was a member of the first (1987) GroomTeam.
