SUESAN WATSON

Suesan is a third generation pet stylist who began working with dogs over 37 years ago. Her family raised Borzoi and other breeds for competition showing, as well as running a grooming business in the Chicago area. So it was natural for Sue to become involved with showing dogs and grooming them at an early age. Now, a Certified Master Groomer, she owns her own mobile grooming business, “Best All Around Groomer”, serving the Chicago/Northwest Suburban area.

Winner of the “Wahl 2003 Groomer of the Year” award and only recipient of three consecutive “Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Awards for American Groomer of the Year”, years 2002, 2003 and 2004; Suesan has accomplished much since her first grooming competition in 1995. Along with many class and group placings, she has won multiple “Best in Shows”, “Best All Around Groomer”, “Best Scissored Poodle”, and “humanitarian” awards.

Making “Groom Team USA” in 2000, Sue was in the top five positions for five years, finishing third in 2002 and 2004. Her 2004 placing garnered her the honor of competing with “Groom Team USA” in the “Ciseaux d’Or International” competition in France, in February 2005: with the USA Team winning the “silver”, only one point behind France, in a field of ten teams from around the world. Suesan also won “Best Clipping” recognition for her fine work with a “Continental Show Cut” on her Mini-Poodle, in the individual poodle open class in the same competition.

Desiring to help educate others thru grooming demos, seminars and by sharing her expertise thru judging at competitions, Suesan now has entered a new phase of her multifaceted career. She is also very pleased to be a representative of the Wahl Clipper Corporation and can often be seen at their booth, giving demos or answering grooming questions.

Sue and her husband live in Hoffman Estates, Illinois with their son and a Standard Poodle, a Miniature Poodle, and a Powder-puff Chinese Crested. They have four children and seven grandchildren.

Dog grooming is not just a job for Suesan Watson: it is a dynamic career, with many opportunities to do exciting things, meet interesting people and even to have fun.
