The pet styling industry has lost one of
its brightest stars. On March 16th, GroomTeam USA member, Lynne
Carver succumbed to a brave battle with cancer.
A long-time fixture in the pet industry, Lynne shared her talents with
stylists worldwide. A member of the original "unofficial" team
in 1987, Lynn also earned her space on the '88, '89, '90 and '91 teams,
garnering Gold medals and International Bests In Show along the way. She
was the recipient of the Cardinal Crystal Grooming Achievement Award for
American Groomer for the Year for 1990 and 1991.
Lynne retired from active competition in 1992 with over 300 awards in
American and International competitions and she proceeded to give her
time and effort to the organization that she so dearly loved; GroomTeam
USA. Lynne actively served on its Executive Board of Directors until her
death. She traveled to every World Team Competition she could, cheering
the Team to victory and she was the team coordinator at the 1999 EuroGroom
in the United Kingdom.
Not only was Lynne a successful competition groomer she was an accomplished
speaker and respected judge as well, having presided over nearly every
contest event in the United States. She had authored several published
articles including an extremely well received one on the grooming of the
Portuguese Water Dog. Her work has been published in South America as
well as in the states.
Lynne premiered her talents as the owner/operator of Shear Elegance Academy
of Pet Styling in Orem, Utah and has helped form the foundations of many
successful stylists either through her teaching or free flowing inspiration.
She was quick to encourage the budding beginner or the timid novice. Many
of our champions today can reflect on kind comments and support from Lynne.
This caring disposition was her trademark.
An accomplished traveler, Lynne never missed an opportunity to "hit
the road." Her position as Professional Sales Consultant for Bio-Groom
Pet Care Products enabled her to attend nearly every major grooming trade
shows across the country where she was usually found in the company of
her loving husband, Raleigh Plesco. She loved to travel and her livelihood,
as well as her hobbies, reflected this. She left a considerable mark in
the dog show ring as a successful breeder, exhibitor and handler of numerous
breeds, including Miniature Poodles and Portuguese Water Dogs.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Raleigh as well as to Lynne's parents,
Oscar and Lorraine, and her siblings. The grooming world has lost one
of its greats. Lynne Carver Plesco was loved by many and will be missed
by all.
The
Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him,
and I am helped.
